Cobot Operator Training

Training in the operation, programming and safe use of a collaborative cobot. For operators, process engineers and people deploying automation. We teach on a real cell, and when you buy a Fairino cobot one training session is included in the price.

Why train your team in cobot operation

A cobot only performs well when the team can operate it safely, program the process and select the parameters. Training shortens the deployment and limits the risk of mistakes at start-up. We work on a real cell and tailor the programme to your parts. See also welding cobots and WS kits.

Training scope

  • Safe work with a cobot and cell risk assessment
  • Operating modes and arm control
  • Setting the tool centre point (TCP) and coordinate systems
  • Programming: points, sequences, variables, loops and functions
  • Selecting and saving process parameters (e.g. welding)
  • Integration with the power source and cell equipment
  • Diagnostics and troubleshooting of typical problems

Training programme

  • Basic level: safety, operation, simple programs
  • Advanced level: process parameters, sequences, integration
  • Hands-on sessions on a real cobot cell
  • Cell configuration for the customer's actual part

Safe work with a cobot

  • Cell risk assessment to ISO 10218-1/-2
  • Human-cobot collaboration modes to ISO/TS 15066
  • Work near the arc, radiation and fumes requires guarding (hybrid mode)
  • Rules for safe operator access and emergency stop

Training on your Fairino cobot

When you buy a Fairino cobot, one training session is included in the price. It covers configuring the cell for the customer's specific needs and parts, so the team starts working straight away on its own equipment.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are qualifications required to operate a cobot?
When the cobot welds in a mechanised or automated way, the operator falls under EN ISO 14732 (welding operators for mechanised welding). Programming and operation on their own do not require welder qualifications, but for the welding process it is worth linking them to qualifications.
Do I need to know how to program to get started?
No. We start at the basic level: safety, operation and simple point-based programs. The advanced level adds process parameters, sequences and integration.
Does a cobot really work without fencing?
A cobot can work close to the operator, but this is decided by the risk assessment of the whole cell to ISO 10218 and ISO/TS 15066. Welding adds the arc, radiation and fumes, so guarding is usually needed (work in hybrid mode).
Can the training be carried out on our cobot?
Yes. We run training at your cell and configure it for your actual part. When you buy a Fairino cobot, one training session is included in the price.
How long does the training take?
We match the scope to the team and its level. It typically covers a basic and an advanced part with hands-on sessions. The exact programme and duration are agreed before the training.
What does the safety part cover?
Cell risk assessment to ISO 10218-1/-2, human-cobot collaboration modes to ISO/TS 15066 and the rules for safe work during the welding process.
