Ready-made Welderstal kits

Cobot kits

Five ready-made cells: MIG/MAG welding, laser processes and palletising.

Each kit is a ready-made cell: arm, base, process equipment, plugin, delivery, commissioning, operator training and technical support. What sets them apart is what they do with the part - whether the cobot travels to it, whether the part rotates, which process joins the material and what the line ends with.

Describe your process and we will match a kit
Second decision

Which cobot goes into the kit

Any cobot in the WS family fits the welding kit. We match the model to the part, reach and cycle time - the rest of the kit stays the same.

Why the base depends on the arm

The longer the arm, the greater the moment on the cobot base. A magnetic foot is only an option for short arms - WS-3 and WS-5. We supply the other models on PIN 28 locating pins: after relocation the cobot returns to the same base and the program needs fewer corrections.

First decision

Five kits, five different tasks

The choice starts with the part geometry and the space on the shop floor, not with the arm parameters. The table shows what each kit is for.

Kit When it makes sense What we add
Basic kit Repeatable parts that fit within the arm’s working envelope. No additional axis
WS kit + linear track Long structures or several workstations in one line. External 2 m linear axis
WS kit + positioner Circumferential welds on pipes, sleeves and shafts. External rotary axis
Laser welding kit A process qualified for laser: welding, cleaning or cutting. Separate architecture and training
Palletising kit Stacking cartons, bags and containers from the end of the line onto a pallet. Column-mounted cobot, guarding and conveyor
Shared scope

What you get in every welding kit

The welding kits differ in their external axis, but they share a common base. The palletising kit has different contents - we describe its scope on a separate page.

  • ✓WS cobot arm matched to the process - with power supply, safety button and control box
  • ✓Cobot base matched to the arm: PIN 28 system in the WS-5 WML kit, magnetic foot or PIN 28 in the WS-5 kit
  • ✓Smart tool, manual seventh axis and adjustable torch holder
  • ✓5 m MIG/MAG cable, control panel and Welderstal welding plugin (PL/EN)
  • ✓Delivery, commissioning, operator training and certification appropriate to the cell
  • ✓5 years of technical support included in the kit price
How to choose

Four questions that decide the kit choice

The order is always the same and starts with the part, not with the arm parameters. The answer to the first question usually narrows the choice to two kits, and the next ones settle the rest.

  1. 01

Does the part fit within the arm’s working area?

If so, the basic kit without an additional axis is enough. If the structure is longer than the arm’s reach or you work at several stations in one line, you need a linear track.

Basic kit or kit with a linear track
  2. 02

Does the weld run around the part?

Circumferential welds on pipes, sleeves and shafts are a job for a rotary axis. The part rotates under the torch instead of forcing the arm to travel all the way around it.

    WS kit + positioner
  3. 03

Which process do you use to join the material?

MIG/MAG is handled by the welding kits. If the process has been qualified for laser, the cell architecture and operator training are different, because safety when working with the beam comes into play.

  4. 04

What happens at the end of the line?

Stacking cartons, bags and containers onto a pallet is a separate task. We build the palletising kit on the WS-20 cobot, with a gripper matched to the product, guarding and a conveyor.

Cost

How much does a ready-made cobot kit cost

We do not give one price without a scope, because the same cobot works differently in a simple cell and in a layout with an external axis, fixtures and wider support. The cost is made up of four areas.

01

Cell mechanics

Arm, reach, payload, mounting method, table, fixture or external axis.

02

Process

Process tool, cable routing, power source, communication and parameters.

03

Operation and safety

Plugin, sequences, organisation of the operator’s work, safeguards and risk assessment.

04

Commissioning

Trials, configuration, operator training, start-up corrections and the scope of support.

If you are looking for the arm alone rather than a whole cell, start with the overview of Fairino cobots and WS models. If you are interested in welding automation as a process, we describe it on the welding cobot as a ready-made cell page.

FAQ

Questions about ready-made kits

How does a kit differ from the cobot alone?
A kit is a ready-made cell: cobot arm, base, process equipment, plugin, delivery, commissioning, operator training and technical support. The cobot alone is just the arm - without selection of the base, equipment and deployment.
Which cobot goes into the welding kits?
Any cobot in the WS family, from the WS-3 to the WS-30, fits the welding kit - we match the model to the part, reach and pace. The most popular are the WS-5 WML (1900 mm reach, ±0.1 mm repeatability) and the WS-5 (922 mm, ±0.02 mm). The rest of the kit is the same. We build the palletising kit on the WS-20 and the laser welding kit on the WS-5 WML with the WLS-2000 unit.
Can the kit be extended later with a track or a positioner?
We can add an external axis to an existing cell, but it requires a new assessment of the space, part fixturing and calibration. It is cheaper and faster to plan the axis at the first selection, which is why we ask about plans for further parts already at the qualification stage.
Can I order a kit without deployment?
We do not split the kit into hardware only. Delivery, commissioning, operator training and certification appropriate to the cell are part of the scope, because they decide whether the cell actually starts running in production.
How much does a ready-made cobot kit cost?
We do not give one price, because the same cobot works differently in a simple cell and in a layout with an external axis. The cost is made up of four areas: cell mechanics, the welding process, operation and safety, and commissioning. We prepare a quote after a description of the part, material and batch size.
How does a kit differ from a single WS cobot from the catalogue?
The WS-3 to WS-30 model pages describe the arm and its parameters. A kit is a specific cell configuration built around one of those arms: with or without an external axis, with a process tool matched to the task and with a deployment scope. Selection starts with the model, but you buy a cell.
Which kit should I choose when parts vary?
With varying parts, geometry decides, not the number of variants. If the parts fit within the arm’s working area, the basic kit with interchangeable fixtures is enough. When structures are long or you work at several stations, a linear track makes sense. Circumferential welds on pipes and shafts are handled by a positioner. For a mixed range we ask for two or three typical parts and recommend one configuration.
Does a cobot cell require guarding?
This is decided by a risk assessment of the whole cell, not by the fact that the arm is collaborative. The tool, speed, part and organisation of the operator’s work all count. Safeguards and risk assessment are one of the four areas that affect scope and cost. In the palletising kit, guarding is planned from the start.

Not sure which kit suits your part?

Describe the part, material, batch size and the space at the cell. We will tell you which kit makes sense - and if none does, we will say so plainly.
